Kasar Devi, a small hillside settlement near Almora, has built a quiet reputation as one of Kumaon's most meditative spots — known for its temple, its long-standing draw for spiritual seekers, and its unhurried pace compared to Uttarakhand's busier hill stations.
Kasar Devi Temple The temple itself, perched with wide valley views, is the settlement's namesake and its spiritual centre — many visitors simply sit at the viewpoint near the temple for a while rather than treating it as a quick photo stop.
Jageshwar Dham A short drive from Kasar Devi, Jageshwar is a cluster of around 125 ancient stone temples dedicated to Shiva, set among deodar forest — one of Kumaon's most significant temple complexes and a genuinely different atmosphere from a single-shrine visit.
Binsar Wildlife Sanctuary Binsar's oak and rhododendron forest, along with its own high-point views of the Himalayan range, makes for a good half-day nature walk or light trek if you want to add some wildlife-sanctuary time to a temple-focused itinerary.
Kasar Devi's meditation and cafe culture The area has a long-standing (if low-key) reputation among long-term spiritual travellers and creatives, reflected today in a handful of small cafes and guesthouses with a distinctly relaxed, unhurried character compared to more commercial hill stations.
Almora town Almora itself, a short drive away, adds a proper Kumaoni market town experience — worth an hour or two for local food and handicrafts if you're passing through.
Best time to visit March–June and September–November offer the most comfortable weather; winter brings a genuine, quieter chill that some travellers specifically seek out for the meditative atmosphere.
Planning your trip Our Kasar Devi & Jageshwar package covers all of the above — the temple, Jageshwar's 125 shrines and a Binsar Wildlife Sanctuary trek — over a 3-day trip from Delhi.
