Rishikesh packs a genuinely wide range of experiences — spiritual, adventure and simply scenic — into a fairly compact stretch of the Ganga's banks, making it easy to build a strong itinerary regardless of how many days you have.
The riverside essentials Ram Jhula and Laxman Jhula, the two iconic suspension bridges, anchor most Rishikesh visits, with the evening Ganga Aarti at Parmarth Niketan or Triveni Ghat being the single most-recommended experience — arrive early to get a good spot along the ghat.
Waterfalls and short hikes Neer Garh Waterfall, a manageable hike from the main town, is a popular half-day addition, offering a swimming pool at the base in the right season and a genuinely different pace from the riverside crowds.
Adventure activities White-water rafting on the Ganga is Rishikesh's signature adventure activity, typically running as half-day trips with different rapid grades depending on the season and stretch of river — book through a registered operator and check current safety advisories before your trip.
Ashrams and yoga As the self-styled "Yoga Capital of the World," Rishikesh has a genuine concentration of ashrams and yoga centres, from short drop-in classes to multi-week teacher-training courses — worth building in extra days if this is a real priority rather than a side activity.
Beyond the main town Kunjapuri Temple's sunrise viewpoint and a day trip up towards Mussoorie are both realistic additions if you have more than a couple of days.
How this fits our packages Our Rishikesh weekend package covers the Neer Garh hike, a nature walk and Ganga Aarti as a compact 3-day trip, while Rishikesh & Mussoorie extends this into a fuller 5-day circuit with Mussoorie's hill-station sightseeing added — see either package page for the current itinerary.
