Solo female travel in India is entirely doable, but it's fair that safety, comfort with strangers, and having someone to rely on mid-trip are the questions we hear most often from women travelling alone.
Common concerns we hear Safety in unfamiliar places, being the only woman in a mixed group, hotel room-sharing arrangements, and simply not knowing anyone else on the trip come up in nearly every enquiry from solo female travellers.
How the women-only format addresses this A women-only batch removes the "only woman in the group" concern entirely, pairs you with a dedicated group leader, and gives you a full group of women in similar circumstances to travel alongside — several of whom, based on what travellers tell us afterwards, end up staying in touch long after the trip ends.
What travellers have actually said Usha Sharna, who joined our women's-only Kashmir departure, wrote that as a solo traveller she "felt completely safe and comfortable throughout the trip" and that "the team... made sure all the women in the group felt secure." Shivani, who travelled with 16 other women on our Himachal women-only departure, described how the group "turned into such good friends by the end of the tour." You can read both reviews in full in our Reviews section.
What to expect on a Shubh Mangaal Yatra women-only departure Twin/triple-sharing accommodation with roommate preferences accommodated where possible, a dedicated group leader throughout, and an itinerary built around the same destinations as our regular departures — currently coordinated most often on our Kashmir and Himachal circuits.
